Gov. Bevin Chooses New Lt. Governor for 2019 Ballot

Gov. Matt Bevin has filed for re-election but this time with a different running mate.

Bevin filed paperwork to run for governor this year with Republican state Sen. Ralph Alvarado. Alvarado replaces Lt. Gov. Jenean Hampton, who was elected with Bevin in 2015.

A spokesman for Bevin said Hampton would serve out the remainder of her term. Bevin called Hampton an “extraordinary lieutenant governor” and “a dear and personal friend.”

Alvarado is a medical doctor who has been in the state Senate since 2015. Hampton is military veteran who lives in Bowling Green.
