“Trump” Name Can’t Be Used
Monday, a Franklin Circuit judge decided a Republican candidate cannot use the nickname ‘Trump’ on the ballot.The secretary of state’s office said Carl Nett was trying to gain a political advantage with the name. Nett disagreed, saying that it is how some people know him.The court ruled Nett’s constitutional rights are not violated because he does not have a legal right to use the nickname.Nett is among four Republicans running for secretary of state. Trump won KY by 30 percentage points in the 2016 Presidential election.
