Students Build Homeless Shelters For Jackson County

Jackson County Middle School students were asked to come up with a community service project for the month of March.”It was kind of random I was like let’s build a homeless shelter,” Seventh-grader Nick Hays said. The seventh and eighth-grade students did not let their age stop them from building the shelter. Thanks to REaCH coordinator Ashley Jude and other members of the community, this once dream became a reality. Six weeks ago students began raising money for the project and for the past two Saturdays they have worked all day on the warming stations. One of the shelters will be housed in North Jackson County.
