Harlan County Recognizes Some Local Heroes

The Harlan County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Awards Gala honored several people who made an impact in their county over the last year.”We’re here to celebrate all the great things about Harlan County,” said Geoff Marietta.There was no denying this year has been tough in their county. However, the sentiment of the evening was one of resiliency and togetherness.One of the award winners for the evening embodied that strength in her ability and dedication to give back to those hurting. Joyce Cheng was awarded the year’s Harlan Countian of the Year for her work with the Blackjewel mine incident.
