Governor Matt Bevin Sets Special Election
Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin has set a special election to fill a state Senate seat left vacant by the resignation of Dan Seum of Louisville.The special election will be Jan. 14 for the 38th District seat, which covers Bullitt County and part of Louisville.The 79-year-old Republican lawmaker announced this month he would retire Saturday. He served as a Democrat in the state House from 1982 to 1988 before moving to the state Senate in 1989. After two years out of office, he was elected to the Senate again in the mid-1990s and has served ever since.
