A Reminder To Turn Around And Don’t Drown
The National Weather Service says the Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports over half of all flood-related drownings happen when a vehicle is driven into hazardous flood water, and that the next highest percentage of flood-related deaths is due to walking into or near flood waters. The reminder is being issued by local law enforcement to turn around, don’t drown. They also say that six inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult, 12 inches can carry away a small car, and two feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles.
