Abandoned Mine Lands Program Projects
Gov. Andy Beshear and Congressman Hal Rogers welcomed local leaders to the state Capitol rotunda yesterday, to celebrate four projects funded with money from the Abandoned Mine Lands program.Among those projects was the new Prestonsburg Passage rail trail.The 2-million-dollar, roughly eight and a half mile, paved trail takes pedestrians and cyclists from Prestonsburg and Archer Park, through the Middle Creek Battlefield, to the coal town of David.That project and others were celebrated with a “virtual” ribbon cutting, to comply with social distancing requirements.

Other projects celebrated yesterday include an R-V park in Clay County, an industrial park in Greenup County, and an aluminum extruding mill in Perry County.
