Ambulance Services For Pike County
It is a move that could help save lives in our region. An emergency administrative regulation by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services will allow six Kentucky counties, including Pike County, to deal with the ambulance service shortage some communities are facing.Elkhorn City officials applied in December of 2015 for an emergency order to establish an ambulance service, but was denied saying there was no need for one. They say since then, residents have had extended wait times for an ambulance, some for as many as two hours. But under this new regulation, new ambulance service providers wishing to establish service will have an expedited application process.
