Animal abuse
The Kentucky Senate is advancing legislation that would allow veterinarians to report the abuse of animals under their care. Current law prohibits veterinarians from reporting the abuse of animals they care for unless they have permission from the owner or are under court order. Kentucky is the only state that restricts veterinarians’ ability to report animal abuse. A clause was removed before passage that would have granted providers immunity from liability for making a report.
