Appalachia Heat Squad Has Tips To Save On Heating Bills

Officials from the Appalachia Heat Squad from the Housing Development Alliance say many of the homes here in Eastern Kentucky lose close to 40% of their heated air. One of the most common places warm air is lost is through cracks in windows, doors, and even through vents inside homes. “People think they need new windows all the time. And when you come to a window and you can seal it up, seal it around the jams and stuff, and air seal, which will cause that draft to disappear”, said Frank Morris of Appalachia Heat Squad. He says another way to save money is by replacing your old thermostat with one that allows you to set heating and cooling times and to program it while you’re away.
