Bear Incidents in Bell, Harlan Counties Have State Officials Considering Changes to Hunting Season

After a number of incidents involving bears in Bell and Harlan Counties, state Fish and Wildlife officials are considering making changes to bear hunting season.

Among the things officials are considering are an extension in the bear hunting season or just allowing hunters a larger quota.

Judge-Executive Dan Mosley told WYMT-TV that bear-proof containers are useful in keeping the animals out of trash, but providing them would cost the county more than $3M.
