Bell County Helps Child Support Delinquents
The Bell County Child Support Office is allowing parents delinquent on their child support payments a chance to avoid jail time. Right now there are 227 parents with warrants for their arrest because of the lack of payments in their cases. “Everybody on that list has had chance after chance to pay. Somebody who may only be three-hundred dollars behind may have only been ordered to pay twenty-five dollars a month. So, you may be talking about a year’s worth of the neglect,” says Neil Ward, Bell County Attorney. The parents can choose to either pay in full or set up a payment plan, at which time the warrant could be removed. Those with warrants have unti April 1st to contact the Bell County Child Support office.
