Blackjewel Miners May Soon Get Paid

The Blackjewel saga may soon come to a close for former miners.The Lexington Herald-Leader reports a proposed offer from attorneys representing the coal company could provide pay for hundreds of former Blackjewel employees, if accepted by the courts.The deal would provide $5.5 million in backpay. It must first be approved by a federal bankruptcy court in West Virginia.Federal officials believe they may come to an agreement as early as next week.
