Bourbon Maker Is Fined
Jim Beam Brands is fined $600,000 by the state for a bourbon spill in July that led to a widespread fish kill. The spill followed a warehouse fire in Frankfort that investigators say was started by a lightning strike on July 3, 2019. Bourbon from 40,000 destroyed barrels poured into Glenn’s Creek and eventually the Kentucky River. Official say the company is also reimbursing the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet $112,000 for its costs.
