Bringing New Jobs To KY
Eastern Kentucky University’s new program hopes to bring training and jobs to displaced Eastern Kentucky coal workers.Governor Bevin promoted the new Kentucky Appalachia AMT Training Project at Wendell H. Ford Regional Airport in Chavies.The Kentucky Appalachia Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Training Project will help coal workers, as well as veterans and other people who need jobs. The project will allow them to earn certification as aviation maintenance technicians.”We’re having to look for places to make a living, things to do. And that’s good because it turns on your imaginations and we’re seeing a lot of new things we’ve never done before and that’s providing jobs”, said Congressman Rogers. “That’s what this is all about.”
