Curbing Pedestrian Deaths In KY
Lexington Police are trying to bring pedestrian deaths down in 2019 with a social media campaign that goes back to basics.”The rules of the road for pedestrians is very basic. We’re taught as kids to look both ways before you cross the street and that’s still very applicable as adults,” said Sgt. Randall Combs with Lexington PD’s collision reconstruction unit talking to WKYT. Sgt. Combs said the uptick in pedestrian fatalities last year is hard to explain; the people who get hit come from all walks of life. “We see college students, professionals, homeless – some of our homeless population have been hit,” says Combs. The one common factor he says is the accidents are usually the fault of the pedestrian.
