Delegating Emergency Powers

Quick action in the Kentucky House and Senate Friday affirmed Governor Beshear’s executive order last month for winter storm relief. Pikeville Senator Phillip Wheeler said the votes in both chambers Friday demonstrate the legislature can delegate emergency powers quickly and effectively.“We as the legislature will soon adjourn, but while we are here we have the ability to confirm and extend our governor’s authority to deal with these devastating natural disasters,” said Wheeler.
