Eastern KY Planetarium Lights Up

If you visit the East Kentucky Science Center and Planetarium you may notice some changes all around you. Recently, the center installed a new state of the art lighting system thanks to a donation. This new system uses the new technology of COB LEDs. Director Steve Russo says this is the upgrade every planetarium needs and it will enhance your entire experience. He says we can do different patterns around the room. Before, we could only put up single colors. When people come in here they’re going to notice a difference and it will make for a better experience here in the dome,” explained Russo. The upgrade can be used as regular room lighting, and it can also be used to simulate a variety of astronomical effects such as “light pollution” in cities as well as the different colored atmospheres of other planets.
