Eastern KY Remembers The Fallen Heroes
More than 50 years after President Lyndon B. Johnson made it a national holiday, Memorial Day was recognized across Eastern Kentucky.Monday, a group gathered just outside the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard to honor the lives lost.”We want everyone to come out and let them know that firstmost, the families are not alone in their mourning and that we will never forget their fallen,” said Matthew Sabin, the activities directory at EKVC and Army Seargent.Both veterans and members of the community were on hand as stories of those sacrificed were shared and names of those who have died were followed by the sound of guns and taps.
