Flu Season Affecting School Attendance

In addition to mudlsides and power outages it’s flu season and this week pharmacists in Letcher County are seeing an uptick in flu prescriptions for people young and old. To help stop it from spreading, Jenkins Independent Schools and some other districts are closed for the rest of the week. Staff says the empty halls at Jenkins High School are a sure sign that pharmacists are amid a busy flu season. “We have sold at least 10 Tamiflu prescriptions each day over the last few days,” says Jay Graham, a pharmacist at Boggs Pharmacy.
