Hillbilly Days Festival Helps Local Children

The Hillbilly Days Festival began in 1977 and 43 years later, it is still having a positive effect on the community. The festival brings more than 100,000 people to Pikeville for a good time and a good cause. “We sell these little Hillbilly Days buttons. It has the year every year on them. We hand stamp them. Make them about 4 or 5 thousand and they’re all one dollar and all the money goes to help our hospital,” said Shriner Mark Tinsley. There are 22 Shriners Children’s Hospitals and of course, the closest one to us here in Pikeville is in Lexington.
