Increasing KY’s Minimum Wage Attempted
Lawmakers pre-filed a bill Tuesday morning, hoping to increase wages for Kentucky’s lowest-paid workers.Senator Reggie Thomas and Representative Kathy Hinkle, both Democrats, sponsored the bill. “I have pushed to have this heard before. I’m not going to stop. Just because you have a first strike and second strike, doesn’t mean you stop swinging,” said Sen. Thomas.Kentucky’s minimum wage has remained at $7.25 an hour since 2008.The lawmakers are hoping to see the minimum wage increase to 15 dollars an hour by 2027.
