Interstate 75 Crashes Increasing

New statistics show the number of crashes on Interstate 75 in Kentucky is increasing. The data shows since 2010, there have been more crashes on the busy highway than on any other in Kentucky. One reason according to officials is the major road work in Rockcastle County. In the last year alone, there were more than 300 crashes between mile markers 50 and 72. Two people have died, including one person from Ohio on Sunday night. A trooper says he believes several factors make the stretch of road in Rockcastle County dangerous, including speed. In some areas, when traffic is stopped due to the construction project, drivers have no space to pull off the road. Construction is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
