Jenkins Man Looking to Open Hemp Extraction Facility in Letcher Co.

A Jenkins man is hoping to open the first industrial hemp extraction facility in Eastern Kentucky, in Letcher County.

Neal Spears told WYMT-TV that he believes that hemp could bring a new industry to coal country and bring back not only jobs, but also population to the area.

Spears and his team met with Jenkins city officials yesterday to talk about the new business. He hopes to use the old Ferus building at the Gateway Industrial Park as his headquarters.
