Job Opportunities For Blackjewel Miners

Thursday marks one month since Blackjewel miners have been without a paycheck after the company filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy.An Eastern Kentucky organization is trying to help Blackjewel miners find new job opportunities beyond the mines.Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program, also known as EKCEP, will host two job fairs on August 20th at the Letcher County Recreation Center and August 21st at the Harlan Center.Jeff Whitehead, executive director of EKCEP, says he has a message for the miners.”There is plenty of opportunities for them to retrain and we are here to help them.”
