Kentucky Senator Wants To Limit Pardons
Kentucky State Senator Chris McDaniel wants to introduce a constitutional amendment to reform the governor’s power to pardon. It’s being reported this comes after former Governor Matt Bevin issued a series of pardons and commutations before he left office earlier this week. Many of those pardons were for people convicted of murder.Senator McDaniel plans to introduce the amendment in the legislative session next year.It would eliminate pardoning powers the month leading up to an election, as well as between an election and the inauguration of a new governor.
