Knox County Opens Ryan’s Place Shelter

The Knox County KCEOC has opened apartments for homeless youth ages 18-24, to fill the need in their area. The shelter is named Ryan’s Place, in memory of 19-year-old Ryan White, who battled homelessness up until his death in 2017, in car accident. “He had been served through our regular homeless shelter for a number of reasons,” says KCEOC Vice President Jennifer Smith. Smith says Ryan White, during his issues with homelessness, always turned to KCEOC when he needed a place to go. Smith says they hope the new crisis center can provide a safe space for others, as KCEOC did for White.
