KY Document Fees Changing

Some Kentucky document fees are going up beginning January 1st. Marriage licenses will go from $35.50 to $50. This is the result of Senate Bill 114. “Groups of bankers, land title attorneys and county clerks. as well as the Secretary of State’s office, all formed to put together a change in statutes to allow all this to happen,” said Don Blevins Jr., Fayette County Clerk. This new system will meet federal flat fee requirements and make it possible to implement electronic document systems in clerk’s offices. While the price changes are mandatory, the switch to electronic will be optional.
