KY Transportation Department Provides Safe Passage For Relief Efforts

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is making sure people can get help in the south following Hurricane Michael.Secretary Greg Thomas waived certain commercial motor carrier regulations for crews involved in relief efforts.Secretary Thomas issued an emergency declaration that provides temporary regulatory relief for crews heading to the coast to deliver goods, restore utilities and remove debris.This order exempts a driver’s hours of service limitations and weighs station stoppage, suspends registration requirements and waives permit fees for overweight vehicles.Commercial drivers are required to carry a copy of the Official Order with them.The declaration expires November 10, 2018.
