KY Utilities Customers Prepare For Rate Increase

Kentucky Utilities customers may notice a rate increase soon, and it will likely be a noticeable change.The utility company is requesting the Public Service Commission an 8.1 percent increase to its electric rates. KU filed the request Sept. 28.Company spokesperson Daniel Lowry says the increase would equal to 32 cents a day or nine dollars a month, and KU needs it to continue investing in infrastructure upgrades.”The ultimate goal here is to reduce interruptions for our customers keep the lights on for people, and that’s really our intent here is to do that,” says Lowry. It is unknown at this time if or when the Public Service Commission would approve this rate change, but KU is not planning to change rates until May 2019.
