KY’s Expanded Ignition Interlock Law
The governor has signed into law a measure expanding Kentucky’s Ignition Interlock Law.It previously only applied to certain DUI offenders, but the law-formerly known as Senate Bill 85-will now apply to first time offenders. It gives them the option to install the interlock or face a longer license suspension.Supporters, which include the state’s bourbon industry, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), say it could reduce drunk driving deaths by 16 percent.Kentucky now becomes the 33rd state with such a law.
