Looking For Child Advocate Volunteers
Officials with a program for Judi’s Place for Kids called “CASA” are looking for volunteers.”CASA” stands for “Court Appointed Special Advocate.”This branch serves Pike, Floyd, and Magoffin Counties.Typically, a CASA volunteer will spend around 18-months on a child’s case. They can only take one case at a time.Program director Shawna Kelly-Blair tells media outlets right now they have 18 volunteers but the court system sees hundreds of cases each year.”So we definitely need more that can provide a voice for a child and be an advocate for them,” she explained. The volunteers stay on the case until the case is closed in family court.”
