Narcan And Naloxone Saving Lives In Eastern KY
According to a recent report in Hamilton County, Ohio overdose deaths dropped about 31% when the county had a program in which Narcan or Naloxone is given away for free. Naloxone is the overdose-reversal drug used to treat opioid overdoses.Health officials in the Ohio county credit the drop in deaths to the program. Here in Eastern Kentucky, pharmacists say making Naloxone more readily available helps combat the opioid epidemic that has hit this region hard.Not all pharmacies are allowed to offer Naloxone. There’s a specific training required.
