New Homeless Shelter In Floyd County

A new homeless shelter is opening in Floyd County.It’s called East Kentucky House of Hope.Board of Directors President Gail Spradlin says this is years in the making.”It’s surreal. After three years and blood, sweat and tears,” recalled Spradlin.”I’m super excited and you know our community has needed this for a while now,” Spradlin pointed out.Clients who have problems with substance abuse will be required to attend treatment prior to admission.Spradlin says their goal is to get people back on their feet.KY River Commission has hired 7 staff members to work at the shelter 24/7. The shelter will house 12 clients at a time.
