Pearl Harbor Soldier’s Remains To Be Buried Today

The once lost remains of a World War II soldier will receive a a proper burial today. Ulis Steely was originally from Corbin and he joined the Navy when he was only 18-years-old. He died in the Pearl Harbor bombings when he was only 25-years-old.It took 78 years and a team of military scientists to identify him. Governor Matt Bevin ordered all flags to be lowered to half-staff in Steely’s honor. He will be buried at Corinth Cemetery in Corbin.
