Pension Worries Don’t Materialize

Kentucky Republicans worried their votes for a pension bill that prompted thousands of teachers to protest would haunt them in November. Instead, more lawmakers who voted against the bill lost than those who voted for it.Of the 49 Republican legislators who voted for the bill and ran for re-election, four of them lost. That includes Republican Rep. DJ Johnson, who lost to Democrat Jim Glenn by one vote in a race that could be headed to a recount. Meanwhile, eight lawmakers who voted against the pension bill, including five Republicans, were defeated or are trailing in either the primary or general election.
