Pikeville Hosts Substance Use Disorder Education Event

Hundreds gathered in Pikeville for the second Substance Use Disorder Education Event Tuesday. Everyone who attended is working toward the common goal of reducing the impact of the drug epidemic on our local communities.Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR) Executive Director Jared Arnett says it is going to take everyone working together if there is any hope of overcoming the drug epidemic.Health professionals, social workers, law enforcement and politicians alike know it is going to take a host of resources for those leaving treatment. One of those is jobs. Guest Speaker Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says recently passed legislation will help create those jobs.
