Pikeville Medical Center Furloughing 200 Workers

Pikeville Medical Center is furloughing more than 200 employees effective tomorrow (Sunday).

Hospital officials say with no elective procedures taking place, the facility will “experience a significant financial loss for April and have to take these necessary steps to manage expenses.”

Anyone furloughed -will- qualify for unemployment benefits under both the CARES Act as well as the state’s updated unemployment criteria.

Pikeville CEO Donovan Blackburn says he hopes to have the hospital back to increased capacity by June.
