Shelter Receives Grant Money
WestCare Emergency Shelter officials say a project is a long time in the making. “It has been a passion and desire of WestCare to do this for over a decade now,” said WestCare Regional Vice-President Stephen Wright. Since 2008, shelter officials set their eyes on the old Lookout Elementary School in Pike County. “It is a rehabilitation (center) for women,” said Wright. Multiple grants helped renovate the old school. However, the latest grant will help them complete the project. The “Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization” also known as POWER grant awarded Westcare of Kentucky $1.36 million.
