State Rep Arrested, Charged with DUI in Laurel County
An eastern Kentucky state representative was arrested Thursday on DUI charges, just hours after the state house had adjourned in Frankfort.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reported State Rep. Derek J. Lewis of London ran his pickup into a ditch in Laurel County.
When police got on scene, the responding officer said Lewis had “slurred speech, glossy eyes and smelled of alcohol.” He refused a field sobriety test and became belligerent. His lawyers say he plans to plead not guilty.
