Training The Community On Treating Opioid Overdoses
Monday people gathered into the Kentucky River Development DIstrict’s building in the Perry County park to learn more about the uses of Naloxone or Narcan.”Naloxone is something that is saving lives and we want to put that in their hands,” said Jamie Mullins-Smith with Kentucky River Community Care. The meeting gave a rundown of what Narcan can do for someone who is overdosing. It outlined that it is not harmful nor is it addictive, but it did show those in attendance that it is only useful on opioid overdoses.”It’s not going to do any good if it is sitting on the shelf in someone’s office,” said Mullins-Smith talking about why it is important to get it out into the hands of people in the community.
